The last thing you want on your brand new window are ugly stickers all over the place. But if you don't know how to get rid of stickers, you might leave residue on your windows that might make them less attractive. In this article, I will give you indications on how to get rid of stickers the right way.
First of all, you have to make sure that you pick up the right equipment for the job. Sometimes, all you'll need to do the job is a good Scraperite blade and some soapy water. This method works especially well for brand new stickers. All you have to do is spray a little water on the sticker and let the water sink in. Next, all you need to do is scrape it off with your plastic blade.
However, if you get a little resistance while trying to remove the sticker, it's better to forget this method and try another one. If you want to get some more removal power, you can always try a vinegar solution instead. Vinegar works better on stickers that have been there for a while.
You can use basically the same method as with water but make sure that you use just enough vinegar so you don't get excessive dripping. Use a soft towel or rag to sponge the excess vinegar and let it sink in for a while. Once the vinegar solution has been absorbed by the sticker, scraped it off gently with the plastic blade. If it's still too hard to remove, try another shot of vinegar and repeat the process until you get results.
If all else fails, you can always go for harder chemicals such as WD-40. All you have to do is spray some WD-40 on the sticker and let it sit. Then, wipe the sticker off with a rag. Most of the times, you won't need a scraper when using this method because WD-40 is that powerful. However, if you still get a little bit of resistance, reach for your blade and scrape away.
Other alternatives you can use are Clorox wipes and baby oil. To remove stickers with baby oil, all you have to do is soak a couple of cotton balls in baby oil and apply the baby oil on the sticker. Then use your plastic blade to scrape the sticker off.
If you have money to spend on a professional grade glass scraper, go ahead, but make sure that you're going to use it more than once. They're a lot more efficient to remove old stickers from glass without damaging it. Once you've scrapped off the undesirable sticker from the glass, make sure that you remove the excess glue with a high grade degreaser to finish the job.
Getting rid of stickers is possible if you know how to go about it. But before you do, make sure that you don't use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that might permanently damage your windows.
